How to dress the staff of a dessertbar...?
It was a new and rather challenging request I received some weeks ago.
When I was asked to design the outfits of the staff working in a Middle-East dessertbar this was for sure a new and challenging request.
The design
The name of the bar is 'Chocomelt' and that name meant instant inspiration for the color scheme I choose. And even inspiring was the ambition of the 'Chocomelt' to deliver a 'sensational mix of chocolates'.
Because of that I decided to design aprons with an all different (chocolat) color.
I also divided the aprons in different pieces. As in the same way as you would break off a piece of chocolat.
The silver elements refers to the packaging and I choose to do the logo in laser because this matches with what happens if one rubs his fingers over the image and the brandname shines through.
The interior
The interior of the 'Chocomelt' bar is a combination of industrial and vintage.
This reflects in the shape and finishing of the aprons. Thanks to the copper studs and the smooth design of the accessories.
The staff
Like in every bar there is also in the 'Chocomelt' a hierarchy in tasks and duties.
Therefore the different shapes of the aprons helps the customer to distinguish the different responsabilities and activities.
A bartender, for instance, is working quite accurate so his shirt doesn't need to be protected. The same shall apply for a barista. On the contrary a waitress who is busy with serving and clearing the tables needs an apron that gives more protection.
The functionality
Concerning functionality we used for the ladies a more lighter type of leather. Making it not too heavy and using an ergonomic style maximize the freedom of movement. The apron can be adjusted thanks to the straps within a centimetre. It rests on the hips which prevents the strain on back and neck.
The recognizability
Thanks to the ergonomically designed back closure the aprons are easily recognisable for everyone and makes the back as striking as the front side.
The logo is carried out like an image which provides added attention, at least for the connoisseur.
The exclusivity
Colors and color scheme are exclusively designed for the 'Chocomelt' and will never be used for other customers.
The image
Dedication of the 'Chocomelt' staff is reflected in the refined diversity, and the finishing and details in the design of the aprons.
Given the responsability for their outfit makes staff members proud, knowing these outfits were exclusively designed and produced for them.
This will surely contributes to a dedicated work attitude.
